The Lodge House Description

Located less than a mile from Mars Hill town center, the historic farm surrounding The Lodge House stretches over 14 acres of forest and rolling pasture. Opportunities for adventure abound, including a wooded picnic area and a walking trail to the property's pinnacle point, which features a stone fire pit and views of nearby mountain peaks. Closer to home, The Lodge House's courtyard is conveniently fenced and ideal for children, dogs, lounging on a sunny day, and gathering around the above-ground fire pit late into the evening.

Built in 1917 and once home to a family of 15 children, the Lodge House embodies old-fashioned appeal with classic covered porches, a front parlor sitting area, and eight gas-burning fireplaces. The Lodge House is known for being the first property in the area to have indoor plumbing. Gather together for home-cooked meals in the traditional dining room (seats six people), featuring original bead-board walls. The sun room and fully-equipped kitchen are bright and cheery spaces with pastoral views from the back of the house.

Find rest and relaxation in The Lodge House's eight spacious bedrooms, each outfitted with comfortable furnishings and a flat screen TV with Roku. The main floor main suite features two fireplaces and a private living room with a small bar area and mini-fridge, perfect for preparing morning coffee or an afternoon snack. A second main suite, located on the upper level, also has two fireplaces and offers access to a covered porch with great views of the property. If you enjoy a deep soak in a hot bath, you'll love the upper level guest room that features an attached bath with an antique clawfoot tub.

Create your own timeless traditions at The Lodge House. This is the perfect place for reconnecting with friends and loved ones, whether it's quiet moments like drinking lemonade on the covered front porch or busy days filled with family activities, the memories you create here will last a lifetime!

Need more space? You can also reserve the adjoining The Lodge Cottage (sleeps six guests), or The Lodge Barn next door (also sleeps six guests). Need a lot more space? The entire estate is eligible to be rented for groups of up to 28.
